An enthousiastic IT consultant primarily focussed on Linux and platform automation with a broad background in DevOps and GitOps environments. Because of my love for technology and automation I enjoy working on diverse projects, like: building and managing of cloud and on-premises environments, creating CI/CD pipelines and fully automating infrastructure and server platforms. Troubleshooting of issues gives me a lot of fulfillment, as well as creating documentation and sharing my knowledge.

Together with my girlfriend I live in Wijchen where we bought our home in 2021. In our free time we like to take care of our gardens and home plants. Inbetween all the green there is a lot of technology to be found as well. My homeserver is the heart of the technology and serves as a sandbox environment for various projects that caught my curiousity. I also enjoy music a lot and we love to invite friends for a nice lunch or dinner.

Linux automation engineer

A position within the DevOps team opened up and together with my colleagues I became responsible for the whole technical side of the company. This role can best be described as a Linux automation engineeer. Along with interesting (technological) puzzles and challenges, my tasks consisted of:

  • Implemented a migration tool in Python for easily migrating customers to new servers
  • Developed and managed numerous Puppet modules
  • Helped design, build and deploy a new monitoring and alerting solution
  • Deployed a new redundant VMware cluster
  • Migrated hundreds of VM's from old ESXi nodes
  • Created numerous Python scripts and small applications
  • Modernized the e-mail setup with DKIM, DMARC and various other modern improvements
  • Defined a coding standard and style guide for our Puppet code base
